So, Opieās work is often queer, and her new exhibition āGirlfriendsā is no different. Two years after her retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum, Opie then returned to her community roots with this photography. A knockout show of new and never before seen portraits exhibited at the Gladstone Gallery. All together, āGirlfriendsā shows Opie continuing to explore the hidden territories behind constructed facades.
